These custom J nuts were manufactured for our EV automotive customer using class 10.9 steel material with a M8 internally threaded hex nut laser welded prior to zinc nickel electroless coating application. We initially attempted to have the parts produced using the butt welding method but that process was creating issues on the internal thread fit so we ended up switching to the laser welding method instead. Full paperwork and level 3 PPAP documentation was provided with the parts to comply with our customer’s requirements.
